Conscious Humming

What if you could lower your blood pressure, get a good nights sleep, improve circulation, reduce stress and anxiety, naturally, and improve your overall health, without taking pills, or spending a penny?

Well, you can! Just by humming. Humming, the easiest sound we can make can be a powerful wellness tool.

Humming has been shown to have a positive impact on the vagus nerve, which is a key component of the parasympathetic nervous system responsible for regulating the body's relaxation response. When you hum, the vibrations produced stimulate the vagus nerve, leading to several beneficial effects on the body:

1. Reduced Stress: Humming activates the relaxation response, helping to decrease the release of stress hormones like cortisol and promoting a sense of calm and relaxation.

2. Enhanced Heart Rate Variability (HRV): HRV is the variation in time intervals between heartbeats, which reflects the body's ability to adapt to different stressors. Humming has been found to increase HRV, indicating a more flexible and resilient autonomic nervous system.

3. Improved Respiratory Function: Humming involves prolonged exhalation, which slows down breathing and triggers a relaxation response. This can help regulate breathing patterns, improve lung capacity, and enhance overall respiratory function.

4. Increased Vagal Tone: Vagal tone refers to the strength and efficiency of the vagus nerve's response. Humming has been shown to increase vagal tone, leading to improved regulation of heart rate, digestion, and other bodily functions.

5. Relaxation and Emotional Well-being: Humming has a soothing effect on the body and mind. It can help alleviate anxiety, promote emotional well-being, and enhance overall relaxation.

6. Improved Digestion: The vagus nerve plays a crucial role in regulating digestion. By stimulating the vagus nerve through humming, you can enhance digestive functioning, increase nutrient absorption, and alleviate gastrointestinal issues.

Humming, the kind you may have done automatically, is a self soothing and beneficial mechanism. There is a method to conscious humming, and when you add these to your humming you will find a greater ability to affect change in your body and your life.
